Helmsay 1.0.8

Helmsay 1.0.8

Test face tracking no longer closes Helmsay

A missing camera stays off, and the Windows build no longer crashes while MediaPipe is cleaning up.

The Update button downloads the new installer, checks it, and starts it

A 1.0.6 or 1.0.7 install is offered this version. If you already have the newest version, Check for updates says you're up to date.

Generate runs the paid tools you actually pick

An image tool or a 3D tool runs only when it is selected. A tool you leave off is not called and is not charged. When you do not pick an image tool, an uploaded picture is the one the 3D tools use.

A crash that repeats no longer fills the log

The same error on this PC is written once a minute, and the next launch asks about that group once. A crash with no traceback still records where it happened.

Sign-up uses one checkbox for the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

The names open the policy. You also confirm you are 16 or older. Product news is optional and starts unchecked.

Help and the title bar open a support desk at helmsay.com/support

You can send a ticket, follow the replies, and attach a crash log or diagnostics when you choose to.

If Helmsay closes unexpectedly, the next launch can send a crash report

Help > Report a problem builds the same report. It includes the stack, recent actions, and system info. It does not include your project files, prompts, passwords, or file contents.

The Generate wizard disables cloud tools that are not set up and local tools that are not installed. A failed run can be retried, and Pause, Resume, and Stop stay available.

Projects can be renamed, duplicated, and deleted

The new-project page starts over after a run, and the name keeps every character you type.

Restoring a snapshot explains a missing run instead of showing a raw file error

The outline lists parts the model actually has

Horns, a tail, and wings are not added to a model that does not have them.

The Helmsay menu and Search respond to a mouse click

The menu no longer repeats the old Settings list, the Edit menu, Customize toolbar, or the Account and Help menus that already live in the title bar.

The Normal tour skips account setup when you are already signed in

Full-body trackers opens the tracker guide. Ask for a change has a Draw circle control, and its microphone types into that field.

The docked preview targets 60 fps

Issue times use your local clock. Reset layout keeps a maximized window. Render output uses that name. Themes include Dusk, Harbor, and Follow Windows accent.

Body sliders report a range to screen readers

Theme choices and the PC and Quest switch are named controls. Older dialogs use the same surface colors as the rest of Helmsay. A project card shows the latest preview after the model has been on screen.

What's new in 1.0.6

The Builder puts the 3D preview in the middle of every step

Drag to orbit, check the VRChat performance card, and change the body with sliders that save to your project.

The menu bar and toolbar are gone

Their commands are in the Helmsay menu, the command palette (Ctrl+K), and the left rail. Notifications open in a drawer, and Help opens without leaving the page.

The status bar shows the running task with time left, GPU use, video memory, and

The status bar shows the running task with time left, GPU use, video memory, and when the project was last saved. The service banner only shows when something is actually wrong, and you can dismiss it.

In a smaller window the Builder keeps every control whole

The outline opens as a drawer from the button at the left of the step tabs, and the other steps show their icons.

Every Settings page now opens inside Helmsay, and Done takes you back to where you were

Accessibility previews the colors of the palette you pick. Restoring a snapshot opens in the window, and snapshot times are in your own time zone.

Projects lists your projects, and opening a recent project from Home goes straight to the Builder. glTF files import, the Builder can show the skeleton, and the preview can pop out into its own window.

The Update button in the update dialog downloads and installs the update again

Helmsay saves your project first. A later update check brings an open update dialog to the front instead of opening a second one.

What's new in 1.0.4

The desktop shell is new

Tool steps are cards with a rank and Free, Cloud, or Paid. The builder shows the 3D view again, with orbit, pan, zoom, pop out, and open preview. Light mode repaints the pages and labels. Home greets you by name.

Download this setup and run it

The Update button installs batches, and this shell is compiled into Helmsay.exe, so a batch cannot install it.

What's new in 1.0.2

An update downloads and checks the batch first

Restart to finish closes Helmsay, waits until it has exited, then replaces the files and opens Helmsay again. If that step stops halfway, the previous install is put back. A restart or a reboot after the download still finishes the update.

Install this version from the download page

The Update button in 1.0.1 cannot replace files that copy is using.

Batch 1 is the current UI fixes: the VRChat menu page and its icons, touch and soft zones, face and lip sync, the effects and audio plan, export, and the sticker pack.

Helmsay installs this batch only

It does not jump ahead to a later batch. After it restarts, the next batch is offered on its own.

What's new in 1.0.0

Helmsay 1.0.0 is the first release you can download from helmsay.com

The setup installs for your Windows account without an administrator prompt and adds a Start menu entry, plus a desktop shortcut if you want one.

Updates now come from a release channel

Stable is the default. Settings > Update channel lets you opt into Experimental builds, which are for testing.

Before an update installs, Helmsay keeps a copy of the version you have

Settings > Roll back to previous version puts it back. If a new version closes unexpectedly the first time it opens, Helmsay offers the rollback on the next start.
